COVID-19 Update from Attorney Michael Lundy

March 19, 2020

As our country and our local communities continue to grapple with the COVID-19 situation, I wanted to take a moment to update you on our continuing efforts to make sure that we are doing everything we can for you as your trusted legal counsel. First, I am pleased to report that no one at our firm (and none of their household members) has been diagnosed with the virus, and we continue to maintain policies that are designed to avoid any contribution whatsoever to the spread of the virus.

Second, our court systems in Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco Counties have imposed some very strict limitations on ongoing and upcoming court proceedings. Generally, all in-person proceedings are being postponed and the judges are endeavoring to handle as many matters via telephone as they can practically handle. In some instances, we do not see this as problematic at all, and indeed it can be even more efficient and cost effective than handling matters at the courthouse. There are other situations in which we feel that an in-person proceeding is critical to a judge’s understanding of the individuals and facts that are relevant to a decision. Our judges seem to be doing everything they can to address these issues and the situation is rapidly evolving. For example, the Florida Supreme Court has just issued an order allowing people to be sworn in by notaries via telephone, instead of in person.

As more information becomes available, we will certainly provide it.

As always, we are here for you around the clock. And, as I mentioned in my prior email, if you need anything and cannot reach someone else in my office, please email me at or call me on my mobile phone at 813-598-2074.

In the interim, please keep in mind that we are all in this together and that the more patience, selflessness and kindness we show to each other, the stronger we are as a community. And rest assured, it will take our whole community to beat what we are facing. Please be careful and stay healthy.
